That's the spirit! You are so human to the audience that way, as you often are in your writing and talks which makes you so connectable. Everyone appreciates your genuineness and your genius.
Once, my mom was so worried about making sure her daughters (aged 6 and 8, maybe?) were packed that she forgot to open her underwear drawer. So not just no drawers, but no bras, no slips (yay, 1970s!), no girdles (necessary for Black church revival meetings!), and no pantyhose (necessary despite 100+ degrees and stupid humidity). Now, my sister, my mom, and I ALWAYS pack at least twice as many pairs of panties as we need. First thing.
THANK YOU for this!! I'm currently with my adult daughter in Berlin and forgot my sandals that go with every outfit I brought for going to dinner...I feel much better after reading your post!!!
Been there, done that...so now I only pack when I am completely alone so I can walk back and forth to the closet with the coats and shoes as I think of things. This means I can be packed for days in advance, which drives my husband nuts. However, it means my thoughts have not been interrupted and, alas, I cannot blame my bag for the error. These stories abound and it's also with the grocery list and the errands and just plain drives me crazy to forget something or to return to the same store to get what I forgot. Then I find the grace to laugh at myself as I realize it's not the end of the world no matter how I feel in the moment. Or, as an elderly friend reminded me when we had to stop for a train when I was taking her on her errands - the stopping gives me time to count my blessings.
thanks for sharing, Mary. I ended up using my flip flops as a prop later in my talk (after confessing after waling to the podium that yes, in case you hadn't noticed, im in flip flops) so i ended up getting not one but two laughs out of them!

I really appreciate that feedback Mary
I’ve always made lists. But now, at age 55 and in the throes of menopause and lots of life changes, they are essential! 🤪
Aspirations!
😂😂😂
Right??
Funny but so true!
I'm on another trip today, and my daughter texted, "Did you pack shoes?" 😊
