Dear Julie: My Son Won't Complete an Application Without Me Constantly Nagging
What Am I Supposed to Do?
Welcome to the “Dear Julie” advice column in Julie’s Pod.
Dear Julie is a response to the fact that sometimes you can learn quite a bit by listening to other peoples’ problems.
Today’s Dear Julie column question is presented as if it was a written correspondence between me and a mom I call “Nagging in Nashville,” but it actually played out in real time in front of an audience of about 150 parents and a few students, including the mom’s son. At the end I’ll tell you what the son did.
Without further ado, sit with me by the proverbial fire alongside “Nagging in Nashville” (and her son)!
The Question
Dear Julie,
My son is a high school junior and he has a really important application due next week. I don’t see him working on it and it drives me crazy. Every day I ask, “Have you done it? Have you done it? When are you going to do it?” But no. He hasn’t. He isn’t. He won’t. I can’t take it anymore. Help!
Sincerely,
Nagging in Nashville
